God's Got This - What She Said Part 14 - Week 7 Day 1
TODAY'S TREASURE
As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him. For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.

Today’s Treasure
As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him. For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.
Psalm 103:13-14
Dear Friends,
In an effort to help a struggling friend, we might say something like, “God’s got this. You will be fine. Everything will be ok.” Comforting words. Beautiful words. Except when they are not.
I watch sports with my husband, and often after a great play an athlete will point to heaven, giving glory to God, and I often wonder if the athlete knows the God they are acknowledging.
Beautiful graphics overlaid with words encouraging us to remember, “God’s got this,” often pop up on our social media news feeds. And yes, He does, but does He “have this” in the ways the writer implies?
Threaded throughout scripture are promises of God’s power, presence, strength, and wisdom – promises made to His children, those who love Jesus, those who acknowledge the need of a savior, those who have repented of sin and in response to grace are committed to serving Jesus. Yes, “God’s got this” is a promise we can cling to – when we know Jesus.
This week in our What She Said series, we welcome back Patsy Kuipers, the “Gardening Grammie”, a title encompassing two of her favorite pastimes. Widowed at age 38, Patsy was blessed to be gainfully employed for all the years she spent raising two daughters on her own. When the corporation she worked for for thirty years eliminated her job, she returned to school to study horticulture, a passion born of caring for the garden her husband, Ray, left as part of his legacy. When I see the beautiful flowers and plants in “Ray’s Garden” I often tell Patsy I hope I can one day spend an afternoon walking through the garden with her so I can soak up the peace and comfort through its beauty. Patsy is Grammie to three young but enthusiastic garden helpers. She serves as an advisor to the Women’s Ministry Committee at Covenant Church in Dallas, Georgia, where she also leads Bible studies. Patsy started her blog, Back 2 the Garden (patsykuipers.com), to tell others of God’s great love and faithfulness. In 2020, she realized a long-time dream when she compiled some of the lessons she’s learned in her garden into a book, Be Still, Quiet Moments With God in My Garden.
In this week’s devotions, Patsy reminds us through everyday moments, “God’s got this”, but there is an underlying caveat – “when you know and love Jesus”.
In Saturday’s devotional, Patsy writes:
“Unlike my predicament of waiting years for a proper diagnosis, God already knows what’s
wrong with us and can provide an effective cure. At the appointed time, He replaces our hearts of stone with hearts of flesh. We begin to understand our condition and the sin that separates us from our Father. There’s nothing we can do to repair our brokenness. Fortunately, He doesn’t leave us in our helpless state. He sent His only begotten Son to heal our souls and restore the family bonds broken at the fall. Jesus, the Great Physician, took our infirmities on Himself and bore our iniquities. His wounds brought about our healing. His righteousness, graciously granted to us who were once lost, ensures our eternal inheritance.
Even though Jesus’ perfect obedience has been credited to our accounts, fully paying the debt we owe our Holy God, we will struggle with the effects of sin, ours and that of others, as long as we’re in this world. Like my impatience with my physical progress, there are times when, with the Apostle Paul, I lament my inability to obey my Father consistently. Nevertheless, with the help of the Spirit, we’re being conformed more and more to the likeness of our elder Brother. Bit by bit, we shed the old and put on the new. The transformation will continue until Jesus’ promised return, when all will be made new and perfect, and God will complete the good work He’s begun in us.”
Dear, dear friends, I love knowing you are reading or listening to Daily Treasure but my deepest prayer is that these devotionals lead you to Jesus. Do you know Him, really know Him? Have you put your trust in Jesus as your Savior and your Lord? The Scriptures exhort us to remember, “all have sinned and come short of God’s glory”, but “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in His name might have everlasting life”. If you are not sure of your salvation, it would be a great honor for me to show you how you can know Jesus and experience not only forgiveness of your sin, but live each day with confidence that the Lord is completing the work He has begun in you.
Treasured by Him,
Sharon
LIFE-GIVING ENCOURAGEMENT
Friend, “God’s got this” can be meaningless or a powerful reminder of His sovereign love when you know Jesus. If, like me many years ago, you are not sure you know Jesus, please reach out to me at markinc@markinc.org. He is calling you to come to Him.
PRAYER
Father, we pray for those who do not know You. We pray that today would be the day of their salvation. In Your name, Amen.
